Price gouging in Houston following Hurricane Beryl: Share your experiences

No description found

In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, many Houston residents are reporting instances of price gouging on essential items like gas, food, and hotel accommodations. These reports are pouring in from people in various parts of the city, highlighting the challenges faced trying to recover from the storm.

On Tuesday, Acting Governor Dan Patrick announced that President Joe Biden has approved a federal emergency disaster declaration for Texas, one day after Hurricane Beryl struck Southeast Texas. This declaration activates the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, which makes it illegal for businesses or individuals to sell or lease necessities at exorbitant or excessive prices during a state of emergency.
