14-year-old boy shot to death in south Houston, search underway for gunman

HOUSTON – Police in south Houston are searching for a teenage boy’s killer early Thursday morning.

Details are limited as it’s an active investigation, but according to Houston PD Asst. Chief Adrian Rodriguez, it happened shortly after 12:45 a.m. at an apartment complex on Broadway near Hobby Airport.

Based on the preliminary information officers gathered, Asst. Chief Rodriguez says they believe it was a targeted case, where the gunman shot from outside the window, into the apartment hitting an unidentified 14-year-old boy.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The only description police have on the shooter is he is a 6 ft. tall African American man in his early 20s wearing a dark hoody and light sweatpants. Investigators said he was seen leaving towards the north side of the apartments before the officer’s arrival.

A cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for any information leading to arrests by calling Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
