Decoding CenterPoint’s power outage restoration map; Here’s how to find your estimated restoration time

It's a 4-step process and we'll walk you through it. (Copyright 2024 by KPRC Click2Houston - All rights reserved.)

HOUSTON – Full disclosure: I’m technically challenged.

My power’s still out.

I’m living my personal life off my phone.

I’m trying to figure out when my place might get power again and it ain’t easy. There’s no time up for my address yet.

HOWEVER... it’s happening for some of you.

CenterPoint’s restoration map is supposed to be updating at least three times a day: Noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

You can search your address, hold your breath, and hope there’s some news there for you!

WARNING: The map is not phone-friendly, it took a long time to load for me and didn’t give me the information I wanted. I’m at work, so jumped on my work computer. Hopefully your phone works better than mine.

Let me know how things turn out for you and email me if you need or want some help: karaiza@kprc.com

STEP 4:

Click on the blue dot where you live.

A message will pop up. Mine doesn’t have an estimated restoration time yet but says I’ll get one when it’s available (no joy!)

But some other folks in the newsroom did get estimates for restoration. 🤞

My colleague Brian Perry searched different neighborhoods and found these messages. Just know if you’re in one of these neighborhoods, it’s not an absolute answer for you because the situation down the block or across the street or down a few blocks could be different.

We got these messages around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024. (Copyright 2024 by KPRC Click2Houston - All rights reserved.)
