The residence has been without power, and according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the two men were drinking outside when an argument broke out. The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, during which one of the men retrieved a pistol and shot the other.

The victim, identified as Todd Gehlert, was pronounced dead at the scene. The alleged shooter has been identified as Floyd Redding and has since been charged with murder.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez commented on the incident, emphasizing the strain the recent storm has placed on the community.

“I want to remind our public to please try to be patient with one another. It’s tough times this entire week with everything that has happened. The storm has taken a toll on so many. People are getting impatient, they are drinking. Things are getting out of hand, and they are resorting to violence and other unnecessary behaviors.”
