HOUSTON – A man is dead Tuesday after police say he was trying to break up a fight in north Houston and a search is underway for his killer.

According to the Houston Police Department, it happened around 5 a.m. at a Chevron parking lot on Veterans Memorial and Gulf Bank. That’s where investigators say David McKinney, 32, was trying to break up a fight.

At some point, police say an unidentified suspect got into his truck and ran McKinney over, killing him. Police are still searching for the driver but have described his vehicle as a 2003 Chevy Silverado with a Texas license plate reading: TDY9548.
