Family of Houston man killed in shooting on New Year’s Day asks public help in closing case

HOUSTON – The family of a Houston man who was killed in a shooting on New Year’s Day is asking for the public’s help in identifying those involved.

The shooting happened on Jan. 1, 2024, at 1:45 a.m. in the 6200 block of Greens Road.

Houston police said David Garcia was involved in an argument with a group of people at the location. As he and the group were walking toward their vehicle, a person pulled out a firearm and shot Garcia in the back.

He died as a result of his injuries sustained during the shooting.
