Power restored for Humble woman who slept in her car for a week after Hurricane Beryl

HUMBLE, Texas – After more than a week without power, the Humble woman who had to sleep in her car during Houston’s sweltering temperatures finally had power restored to her home.

Christina Bourgeois, who lives in the Classic Pines neighborhood said she and several of her neighbors were left without power after Hurricane Beryl hit the Texas Coast.

As a result, Bourgeois said she and her dog, Mimosa, had to use her car as a second home.

Before restoring her power, Bourgeois said she reached out to CenterPoint several times.

CenterPoint said the reason Bourgeois didn’t have power for so long was because there was likely a circuit-level outage, which typically impacts more than 100 customers.
