HOUSTON, Texas – Long before Hurricane Beryl, Houston residents have complained about the delay in trash pick-up in some areas across the city and in surrounding communities.
KPRC 2 has covered the stories of many viewers and neighborhoods who said their trash wasn’t picked up for weeks—or even months.

Now, since Derecho and Hurricane Beryl, residents may face more delays in trash and debris pick-up. So, here are a few ways you can try and avoid this issue and make sure the eye sores aren’t a part of your community.
Waste Management
- Depending on which WM services you have, navigate to the “Trash”, “Recycling”, or “Yard Waste” section and click Details. If available, photos or videos of your pickup will display. If you are eligible to report a missed pickup online, a “Missed Pickup” button will display.
- Click Missed Pickup and follow the steps to report a missed pickup.
In some cases, the Report Missed Pickup button will not show and you may be unable to report a missed pickup. This can occur when:
- Your container was not at the curb.
- Inclement weather/unsafe road conditions prevented us from making a pickup.
- Your container was blocked.
- The scheduled service date was more than 5 days ago.
For business customers who are unable to report a missed pickup, you can request an extra pickup. For residential customers that are unable to report a missed pickup, you can wait until your next pickup date or reach out using the button below.

If your trash wasn’t picked up, visit SWMD Service Schedules and Neighborhood Service Maps web page to verify the pickup schedule for your neighborhood. If you have been missed for weekly garbage pickup or recycling, you may report it to 3-1-1.
Texas Pride
Due to Hurricane Beryl, Texas Pride sent out the following statement to its customers:
“Due to continued exceptionally high volumes of garbage, all recycle collection routes Wednesday-Saturday will be suspended this week. In the event that GARBAGE collection does not occur on your scheduled day, it will be collected the following day. Garbage crews will be collecting household garbage and a maximum of 3 bags of yard waste (grass clippings/leaves/hedge trimmings). No storm debris or heavy trash will be collected. To better assist the crews and limit confusion, please try to have yard waste in clear plastic bags and/or the heavy-duty paper lawn & refuse bags and if possible, separate it from your storm debris. Texas Pride Disposal will not collect storm debris as part of normal trash collection or heavy trash collection. Please reach out to your City or County for further information regarding storm debris collection. As our drivers and crews continue to work hard on collection efforts during this difficult time, please direct any questions and/or concerns to our customer service department at service@texaspridedisposal.com or call (281) 342-8178. We currently have limited internet capability and phone access, which may cause a delay in response time. Please be patient as our teams are diligently working to respond to all requests as timely as possible.”
