Prosecutors said on the morning of July 16, neighbors saw Myers threatening to pull out a gun on the CenterPoint employees as they worked to restore power in a Houston-area neighborhood. The neighbor called police as the suspect reportedly continued to antagonize the workers and prevent them from fixing lines.

Responding officers tried to detain Myers by preventing him from going inside his home. During this time, Myers reportedly attempted to bite the officer and started kicking the officers, causing them pain.

He was eventually arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail.

Prosecutors said it is unknown why the suspect was upset with the workers or if his home was without power after Hurricane Beryl.

During his court appearance, a judge set his bond at $50,000. If he is found guilty, he could face up to two to 20 years in jail and be given a $10,000 fine.

Prosecutors said Myers has had no criminal history.
