HOUSTON – Authorities are piecing together a double shooting overnight Thursday at an apartment in Midtown.
It happened a little before 12:15 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of W. Dallas St. off Allen Pkwy. That’s where Lt. Ronnie Willkens, with the Houston Police Department, said they found two gunshot victims. One of them, an unidentified man, suffered serious injuries to his upper body, while a woman was shot in the leg. Both were rushed to a hospital.

As for what and how things happened, it gets a little complicated, as police are still trying to sort out the testimony they’ve received from various witnesses.
According to Lt. Willkens, their first set of witnesses saw what they originally believed to be three to four men jumped the apartment complex’s gate and broke into a first-floor apartment by busting the back window open.
Inside the apartment were two other witnesses, who told police they barricaded themselves in one of the bedrooms. One of the gunmen tried to kick the bedroom door in, but they were able to keep him from coming in. The suspects took off shortly afterward. Lt. Willkens said the four victims don’t even live in the apartment.
“The male who was shot, supposedly it’s a friend of his apartment,” he said. “So the people, who were in there, don’t even live in that apartment, so investigators are coming here to figure out exactly what the deal is, you know, who actually owns the apartment, and everything we can about the suspects.”

Other witnesses at a dog park, told police after the initial gunmen broke in, more suspects (possibly a man and woman) got into the apartment - so there might even be 5-6 gunmen police are searching for.
No motive was given for the shooting, and it’s unclear if the shooters took off in a vehicle or on foot. However, police are continuing to sort out this complex scene.
