A man has been taken into custody following an hours-long standoff with SWAT after allegedly threatening his parents with a pistol at their southwest Houston townhouse.
Officers responded to the scene at the 12400 block of Brookglade Circle around 3:30 p.m. after a male suspect reportedly pulled out a pistol and threatened his father. Upon arrival, officers were able to safely evacuate the suspect’s mother and father from the apartment.

The suspect, who had been living in the garage of the townhome, refused to exit when officers tried to make contact. As a result, officers obtained a search and arrest warrant, suspecting he was armed.
SWAT was called to the scene and attempted multiple times to get the suspect to surrender, but he continued to refuse. After repeated attempts, SWAT made a forced entry into the garage and deployed tear gas. The suspect then jumped out from under the garage door and onto the roof of the garages, running back and forth with a pistol in his hand.
At one point, he climbed on top of the two-story townhomes. Officers deployed a taser, a 40 mm round, and flashbangs, eventually managing to corner the suspect into a garage and take him into custody. A pistol was later found in another garage.
The standoff ended around midnight and the suspect is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
