He later obtained a college degree in China and moved to the United States in 1995 to attend Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. There, he earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering before moving to Houston in 1997 to work as a computer consultant contracted with Chase Bank of Texas. Although Wensheng reportedly knew people in Austin, there is no indication that he telephoned anyone in the city from his home or cellular phone.
Wensheng would call his parents at least once a month and frequently correspond with his sister via email. His sudden disappearance has left his family and friends desperate for answers.
