A Pasadena man has been charged with abandoning a child with intent to return, according to court documents.

Court records reveal that Gray was overcome with mental anxiety and no longer wanted to care for his infant daughter. He initially told the child’s mother that he was leaving the baby at a fire station, prompting a missing persons search by the Houston Police Department when he did not follow through. Instead, Gray returned to his motel and left the baby in a car seat by the pool for 15 minutes before walking 1,133 feet to a restaurant and placing her in the dumpster enclosure.
