Suspect charged, wanted in March shooting of two men

Charges have been filed against Charles Dee Strain III, 35, who is wanted for allegedly shooting two men in Houston on March 24.

The shooting took place at the 2000 block of Oakdale Street around 2:55 a.m. on March 24. Strain, who faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, remains at large.

The victims, aged 37 and 32, were taken to a nearby hospital and are in stable condition. HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division officials reported that HPD patrol officers were flagged down near State Highway 288 and North MacGregor Way to check on a vehicle, where they found the driver and passenger suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims stated they were shot at the intersection of Oakdale Street and Almeda Road.

Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the men to the hospital. Initial investigations revealed that an unknown suspect shot the men as they stopped at a stop sign and then fled on foot. As a result of further investigation, including witness testimony and evidence collected at the scene, Strain was identified as the shooter.
