HOUSTON – Drivers are encouraged to find an alternate route after a deadly multi-vehicle crash Thursday morning resulted in a major shutdown on I-45 N.

Details are limited, as it’s an active scene but investigators with Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division were called to North Freeway near Gulf Bank Rd. where at least four vehicles were involved.

Vehicular Crimes officers are en route to North Freeway northbound near Gulf Bank Road for a multi-vehicle crash. Northbound lanes are shut down at this time.

It’s unclear how the crash occurred but police said at least one person has died. The northbound lanes were completely shut down as a result while crews work to investigate the scene and clean up the wreckage and authorities have not disclosed when it may re-open.
