Although the grand opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics is tomorrow, the excitement is already in the air! Today, we have a thrilling lineup of events to get you into the Olympic spirit. From the precision of archery to the fast-paced action of handball, rugby sevens, and soccer, there’s something for everyone.

Tennis sensation Coco Gauff will join NBA star LeBron James as a flag bearer for the U.S. Olympic team at Friday’s opening ceremony. Gauff, the reigning U.S. Open champion, is set to make her Olympic debut at the Paris Games and will be the first tennis player to carry the U.S. flag.

United States favored to top overall medal table at Paris Games. China may challenge for most gold

As the Paris Olympics kick off this week, the United States is favored to top the overall medal table, with a forecast of 112 medals, including 39 gold. China is expected to challenge the U.S. for the most gold medals, aiming for 34 golds out of an anticipated 86 total medals. Historically, the U.S. has dominated the overall medal count, having led for the past eight consecutive Summer Games.

2 Houston area Olympians will be competing Wednesday

The opening ceremony might be on Friday, but the Paris Olympics action officially begins today! Two Houston area Olympians, Orrin Bizer of The Woodlands and Kevon Williams of Houston, will be competing in rugby against host France. Williams, making his second Olympic appearance, and Bizer, debuting in his first, are ready to represent Team USA.
