Parts of Houston area to get drenched again today: Who could see the most rain?

HOUSTON – It has been a pretty soggy week in southeast Texas and depending on where you are, you have either seen a lot of rain or not a whole lot at all.

For Friday it looks like we are going to play this story out once again.

The coastal counties have been the ones seeing the most rainfall over the last few days and that looks to stay true again tomorrow.

Here is what it looks like.

Friday rain

Because of the risk of continued heavy rainfall, the Flood Watch that was supposed to end Thursday has been extended into Friday. It is in effect until 4 p.m.

Areas could see an additional two to four inches of rain with isolated amounts heavier than that.

Computer models show another cluster of storms moving through southeast Texas Friday morning with the heaviest storms centered along the coast. Places like Freeport, Galveston, and up the coast toward Port Arthur will see the heaviest rainfall Friday.

Some of these rainfall totals projected for tomorrow are quite impressive. Models show a bullseye over Brazoria County with a projected rainfall total of nearly eight inches in Lake Jackson.

Elsewhere across southeast Texas, expect two to four inches of rain to be common from Harris County southward.

The further north you go, the less rain you will have to deal with.

Drying out, but heating up next week

Storm chances will decrease as we head through the weekend. A chance for an isolated storm will persist through midweek next week, but the chances are significantly lower than what we saw this week.

Temperatures will start rising again next week with highs topping out in the mid-90s by Wednesday.
