HOUSTON – On Monday, lawmakers in Austin are planning to question leaders for CenterPoint Energy on the company’s performance in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
There is also a state-ordered investigation into the company’s actions amid the storm, and the company must provide Texas Governor Greg Abbott with a full report on what went wrong during Beryl by the end of the year.
As part of an investigation into CenterPoint’s preparedness and response to the hurricane, the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) will develop an online survey that Houstonians can take part in. That survey is now available and can be found by clicking here.
Here’s some of the things CenterPoint has promised to change after their controversial response to the storm:
- They are launching a new outage tracker, and it should be available by August 1.
- They are increasing the capacity of their call centers during storm events, so customers don’t have to wait any longer than five minutes to talk to a representative.
- They are holding daily press briefings both before and during major storms
KPRC 2′s Rilwan Balogun will be in Austin all day Monday with live updates of the State Senate’s hearing.
