It all started a little after 5 a.m. when officials say a driver and tow truck driver were changing a flat tire on Beltway 8 and Fairbanks Rd. when another driver hit both individuals. Two other vehicles were involved, but it’s unclear if it was a chain-reaction crash or exactly what their role was.

No one in the incident has been identified, as of this writing, but two of the people hospitalized were reported to be in serious condition.

The northbound lanes were completely shut down for hours while crews continued investigating the crash scene and cleaning up the wreckage. The site was cleared and all lanes were re-opened just before 8 a.m.

As of this writing, no additional information has been shared, but KPRC 2 will continue to update this story as it develops.
