Need back to school supplies? These drives have you covered!

Parents, rejoice! School Districts across our area will be welcoming students back in the coming weeks, which means it’s time to stock up on school supplies.

If you need a little extra help this year, there are a number of supply drives giving away freebies for your little scholars. We’ve compiled a list to help you find the best one for your family.

1. 4TH ANNUAL MAYOR’S BACK TO SCHOOL FEST PRESENTED BY SHELL

This event is open to elementary school students (K-5th grade) who reside in the greater Houston area. Families may pre-register by registering on the event website: http://www.houstontx.gov/btsf/. Pre-registration is recommended, but registration on-site will also be available. Free parking is available in the Astros parking lots B & C.

  • WHEN: Saturday, August 3, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

2. UNIFORM, BACKPACK DRIVE & FREE HAIRCUTS FOR ALL SCHOOL AGE STUDENTS

Glory Fitness, Boykins Youth Foundations, Madlineman Foundation, Rock-In-Hood Foundation, Former Houston Texan Fred Weary & AJ’s Barber and Beauty Salon will host their 10th annual uniform, backpack & free haircut drive for all school age students. Immunization and health services will also be available at this free event. They hope to serve over 500 students.

  • WHEN: Wednesday, August 7, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • WHERE: Evan E. Worthing High School, 9215 Scott St., Houston, TX 77051

If you’d like to donate supplies to this drive, you can do so till August 5 at Glory Fitness Studio, 5112 Ashbrook Dr. Suite #B, Houston, Texas 77081.

3. BACK TO SCHOOL BETTER DRIVE: Spring and Conroe ISD.

Church Project, local county organizations, and other ministries are partnering to provide school supplies, haircuts, shoes, school clothes, hygiene and food kits, school portraits, and more. They hope to serve over 1,200 students in Spring and Conroe ISD. Families can also enjoy food trucks, fun and games throughout the day. The Community Assistance Center (Montgomery County) and Community Youth Services (Harris County), will be on site providing services.

4. KENDRA SCOTT FOUNDATION’S YELLOW LIBRARY INITIATIVE

The Kendra Scott Foundation is partnering with First Book to give out 5,000 books to over 600 students, celebrating the start of the new school year. This event highlights the importance of literacy and educational equity, with the KSF Yellow Library playing a crucial role in providing diverse, bilingual books to under-resourced communities.

5. BE Impactful BACK 2 SCHOOL DAZE

BE Impactful will be holding a supply drive for both students and teachers. There will also be games, food, a raffle contest and more. Pre-registering isn’t necessary, but it does help give organizers an idea of what supplies to have ready. You can register by clicking here.
