2 Amber Alerts, 1 week, both 12-year-old girls

For the second time this week, an Amber Alert has been issued for a 12-year-old girl who is believed to have disappeared with a man.

In the most recent case, officials say the last place the girl was seen on the 400 block of Greens Road on the Northside.

The sister of the 12-year-old girl from the most recent Amber Alert situation tells KPRC 2 that Manvel Police found her alive, but just like the Amber Alert before that one, there are many unanswered questions.

Two Amber Alerts, two 12-year-old girls, two male suspects said to have disappeared with the victims in black trucks in one week. Both cases ending with the girls found alive, but there are some differences in the timing of the Amber Alerts being issued.

While both are HPD cases, in the first case from Monday, family members expressed frustration with law enforcement, because they say it took roughly 27 hours after the girl was reported missing for an Amber Alert to be issued. Houston Police say there was some confusion with who had jurisdiction in the case. The girl disappeared from Houston, but traces of her were found in Harris County.  Family says the girl was found right after the Amber Alert was issued.

In the second case from Friday, the girl’s sister tells KPRC 2 the girl was reported missing at around midnight, and an amber alert was issued at 12:35 p.m., just over 12 and half hours later. The girl was found about six hours after the Amber Alert was issued.

In order for an Amber Alert to be issued the reporting agency must submit details of the missing person’s report to the Department of Public Safety which issues the alert based on the criteria being met.

In the most recent Amber Alert, it’s still unclear what happened to the girls in the time they were missing, and what will happen to the men accused of taking them.

We plan to keep you updated as soon as we get more information.
