The pressure loss happened while flushing the main lines after a valve replacement. As a precaution, residents in these areas are advised to boil their water prior to consumption to eliminate any harmful bacteria or other microbes. This includes water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, washing, and brushing teeth.

Residents should bring water to a rolling boil and then continue boiling for two minutes. Alternatively, bottled water can be used for drinking and human consumption purposes.

The Harris County Municipal Utility District is working to resolve the issue and has begun collecting special bacteriological samples. The results are expected by tomorrow, August 5. The boil water notice will be lifted once the samples comply with safety standards.
