Pedestrian struck, killed by car on I-10 Katy Freeway

Houston police have reopened the eastbound lanes of I-10 Katy Freeway at SH-6 following a fatal crash early Sunday morning. The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. when a male pedestrian was struck by a silver Toyota Camry while in a moving lane of traffic at 15400 Katy Freeway.

Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. The identity of the man is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The woman driver, 40, and a woman passenger were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver reported that the pedestrian suddenly ran toward her vehicle and jumped into her lane. Authorities have determined that the driver was not impaired.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
