Houston police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early this morning at an apartment complex in southwest Houston.
According to the Houston Police Department, the incident took place around 2:15 a.m. at an apartment complex located at the intersection of Elm Street and Rampart Street. According to initial reports, two roommates started fighting while drinking and barbecuing. A third roommate intervened to break up the altercation, and the situation appeared to be resolved as everyone returned to their rooms.
However, shortly after, one of the men involved in the fight ran from the apartment. His roommates searched for him but were unable to locate him. An hour and a half later, the roommates heard gunshots. They went outside and found their missing roommate lying unconscious on the concrete with a head injury.
The roommates performed CPR and called 911. The injured man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Lt. Riley of the Houston Police Department provided an update, revealing that doctors discovered a gunshot wound to the man’s head. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact the HPD.
