Man dubbed the ‘Jailhouse Gymnast’ wanted for robbing Alief area bank

HOUSTON – FBI Houston is asking the public for help identifying a man who is accused of robbing a bank in the Alief area.

The man, dubbed the “Jailhouse Gymnast,” robbed the IBC Bank located at 8203 South Kirkwood Road at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26.

Authorities say the man entered the bank and approached the counter. He then demanded cash while continuously threatening the teller. He then flung himself over the counter, reached into the till, grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash, and fled the bank on foot westbound on Beechnut Street. No one was hurt during the robbery.

The man wore a red t-shirt with the University of South Carolina logo on the front, blue jeans, and white shoes. He may possibly be homeless.

Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the robber.
