HOUSTON – Houston Independent School District officially kicks off the school year on August 12, but many parents are trying to figure out how to get their children to their classrooms.
On July 23, HISD announced they were making cuts to 85 bus routes to better accommodate students participating in the school choice program. These students attend a school they’re not zoned to, and HISD is one of the only districts in the region to transport them. They hope the bus route changes will reduce costs and ride times for these students.

This has left parents not participating in the program with just a few weeks to come up with another way to make sure their child is able to get to school on time.
