BAYTOWN, Texas – A man is dead following a house fire in Baytown Friday afternoon, Harris County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said deputies, along with the Highland Fire Department, responded to reports of a fire at 110 Independence Pkwy. N.

Firefighters said a man was trapped inside the home, and by the time they made entry and pulled him out, he was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It’s not clear how the fire started or the identity of the man, but deputies say all southbound lanes on Independence Parkway are closed due to the fire.
