Pearland Police Department K9 found after reported missing for hours

PEARLAND, Texas – The Pearland Police Department is breathing a sigh of relief after finding one of its police canines who had been missing for hours.

K9 Rony, a Dutch Shepherd, went missing from his home in the Lakes of Savannah neighborhood.

The department said Rony is wearing a large padded modular collar that does not have his name on it.

According to Officer Chad Rogers, the Public Information Officer for the department, Rony went missing early Sunday morning. Officers and handlers are using drones to try and find him.

“We need the help of Pearland and surrounding areas to find him! Rony is a police canine please do not try catch or approach him,” the department said.

Shortly before 12:45 a.m. Monday, investigators said K9 Rony was found safe and “in good health.”
