Diesel spill reported in Houston Ship Channel, crews working to detain

HOUSTON – Crews are working to contain a diesel oil spill in the Houston Ship Channel Tuesday afternoon, according to PEMEX Deer Park.

The spill was reported around 10:52 a.m. and the leak site has been reportedly isolated. The cause of the spill has not been released.

The U.S. Coast Guard said the spill is about two gallons.

The PEMEX Deer Park team deployed oil booms to help contain the spill and the appropriated government agencies have been notified.

At this time, officials said they are not aware of an impact to the community or its industrial neighbors.
