The group consisted of two women and three men, with one of the men, who is the shooter, being relatively new to the group.

During the movie, investigators said one of the men realized he lost his cell phone, prompting his friend, who later becomes the victim, to help him find it.

The man who lost his phone went outside to check his car while the victim found the phone inside the theater and went outside to tell him.

A confrontation happened between the victim and the shooter, possibly over words exchanged inside the theater. Moments later, police said gunshots were heard by one of the men.

The shooter and the woman accompanying him fled the scene in what is believed to be a black SUV Jeep.

The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance and is currently in surgery. Authorities have stated that no one actually witnessed the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
