Klein YOUniversity: School district offers new resource to share information between parents, students and teachers

KLEIN, Texas – Wednesday marks a brand new school year for students at Klein Independent School District.

In a ‘Welcome Back’ video message posted to the district’s website, Superintendent, Dr. Jenny McGown promised enhanced safety for students and staff this school year.

Dr. McGown said safety is still a top priority which is why the district has required additional training for employees and other agencies.

This includes the Klein ISD Police Department, Cross-agency safety collaboration, annual staff training, and the inaugural Klein YOUniversity.

According to the district, Klein YOUniversity is a series of workshops that was launched to enhance partnerships with parents and guardians.

They will cover a variety of topics including digital safety, mental health awareness, and prevention of drug and alcohol abuse.

“Klein ISD is committed to sharing information and enhancing the understanding of all stakeholders in our community. Klein ISD YOUniversity is the go-to resource for parents, guardians, employees, volunteers, businesses, and community members to learn more about the District, its programs, initiatives, volunteer opportunities, and much more,” the website read.
