For the first time since losing her Olympic bronze medal, 23-year-old gymnast Jordan Chiles is talking about it publicly.

Chiles was officially stripped of her medal in floor exercise on August 10 by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Chiles, who trained at the World Champions Centre in Spring alongside Simone Biles, said she was, “overwhelmed by the love” she has received while United States of America Gymnastics (USAG) attempted to appeal the court’s decision.

Officials said Chiles’ coach submitted an appeal to update her score four seconds too late, and the medal will now go to Ana Barbosu of Romania.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Chiles said in part, “This decision feels unjust and comes as a significant blow, not just to me, but to everyone who has championed my journey.”

She concluded with, “I believe that at the end of this journey, the people in control will do the right thing.”
