‘They’ll never ride the bus again:’ Fort Bend ISD mom says her 3 children were dropped off at wrong stop

FORT BEND, Texas – A Houston-area mother is sharing terrifying moments when she frantically searched for her children Wednesday after learning her children were dropped off at the wrong bus stop.

Ebony Jordan told KPRC 2 her children attend Fort Bend ISD, which started its first day of school on Tuesday. However, on Wednesday afternoon, while waiting for her three kids (6,7, and 9 years old) to come home, Jordan said sometime after 4 p.m., she received a call from an unknown number.

“I received a call from some guy that the kids asked to use his phone, so he passed the phone to my daughter, and she said that the bus people let them off the bus,” she explained. “At that point, I can do nothing but literally, like, drop the phone, stop what I was doing and try to figure out where my kids were by that time.”

“I kept calling the number back and they didn’t answer,” Jordan added. “I didn’t know what to think. I didn’t know where to go. I started calling the school immediately. They didn’t answer. I started calling, the transportation. They finally answered. They transferred me to some lady and nobody had any answers. Nobody knew anything. So they tried to contact-- I believe it was the bus driver to ask what happened.”

In a statement, Fort Bend ISD says it’s taking the allegations seriously and the bus driver has been suspended while an investigation is conducted:

“We are launching a thorough investigation to find out why this occurred. The driver has been removed from driving duties pending the outcome of the investigation. We are grateful the children were able to contact their parent and get home safely. We are looking into steps we can take to prevent this from occurring again.”
