Suspicious item that shut down FM 2920 for hours in north Harris County is ‘nothing of concern’; roads back open

HOUSTON – A suspicious item that shut down roadways in both directions Friday afternoon in north Harris County was deemed safe, according to Pct. 4 deputy constables.

The item was located in the median near the 4700 block of FM 2920.

A bomb squad deployed its robots to investigate the item.

The roadways were shut down in both directions for hours but later reopened after it was determined to be “nothing of concern,” officials said.

Drivers were asked to find alternative routes and avoid the area until scene was cleared.

Investigators did not give detail on what was inside the item.
