HOUSTON – 3 Houston police officers were injured last night in two separate crashes in the Houston area.
The first accident occurred at 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of Stassen St and McLean St in the Sunnyside area.

A Houston Police Department cruiser was en route to a shotspotter call with lights and sirens when a vehicle ran a stop sign causing the crash, causing both vehicles to go off the roadway, HPD Lieutenant Riley said. Both HPD officers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
As a result, a 3rd vehicle was struck. A woman and 2 young children were in the car which resulted in them being treated for minor bumps and bruises.
The second accident occurred at 12:10 a.m. in the intersection of TC Jester Blvd and Pinemont Dr in the Northwest Houston area. Two HPD cruisers were responding to a routine call with lights and sirens when one of those cruisers was hit by a male who allegedly ran the red light.

No one had to be transported to the hospital and the HPD officer had minor bumps and bruises according to Sargent D. Rose.
HPD wants to remind the public to be aware of signal lights when traveling in the roadways, specially when they hear emergency vehicles.
Both accidents are currently still being investigated and no other information is available.
