During her speech, which was a little over two minutes long, Hidalgo addressed past and current conditions of Harris County.

“In the years I’ve been in office, we’ve dealt with chemical fires. We’ve dealt with 10 floods, seven hurricanes, a deadly winter freeze, and of course, the pandemic,” Hidalgo said, following it up by stating that Former President Donald Trump abandoned Houstonians during those difficult moments.

She went on to say that on the contrary, Democratic Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris always calls to check in on the status of residents in Harris County.

“We deserve leaders who acknowledge the threats, heck, the existence of climate change. We deserve tough leaders who have our backs. We deserve compassionate leaders ready to help,” Hidalgo ended with.

Before heading to the Windy City, Hidalgo seemingly threw a little bit of shade toward Republican Vice Presidential Candidate, JD Vance.

Hidalgo posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that she brought her cat with her.
