On Aug. 14, deputies responded to reports of a possible homicide at a home located in the 2500 block of Wells Station Court in Katy.

When they arrived, a woman said her ex-husband, Mack, had killed her boyfriend, 53-year-old Kelvin Hinton. The woman said Mack had been stalking her since she ended their relationship more than a year ago.

According to court documents, the woman said she was sleeping with Hinton when she woke up to Mack standing over them. She said Mack hit her in the head rifle, which woke Hinton up. Then, the woman said she tried to stop Mack from assaulting her, but instead, he shot Hinton once in the head, killing him.

After the shooting, the woman told investigators Mack continued to hit her while she begged him not to kill her. She said Mack then placed the rifle to her head, pulled out a handgun, and forced her to shoot Hinton’s corpse.

Afterward, the woman said Mack forced her to help him dispose of the body. She said Mack told her he had a tracker on her phone and would find her and kill her if she “tried anything.”

Mack then drove the woman to West Vidor, where he doused the body in gasoline and lit it on fire. The woman said Mack then disposed of Hinton’s cell phone and wallet and cleaned the vehicle the body was transported in.

Court documents said Mack then dropped the woman back off in Houston and told her, “I’m not going to kill you today.”

The woman said she got out of the car, went to a gas station, and called the police.

The woman described the surroundings of the area where Mack burned the body, and investigators with Vidor Police Department were able to find Hinton’s remains.

On Aug. 17, a warrant for capital murder was issued for Mack. Three days later, deputies said he turned himself in.

It’s not clear if Mack will face additional charges related to his girlfriend’s account of the events.
