Got a problem? Here is who you can call in Houston to help fix it

HOUSTON – Millions of people live in the City of Houston.

Inevitably, eventually someone is going to have a problem they will need help taking care of.

Resources are available for residents to contact city officials so they can address non-emergency situations.

Of course, if it is an emergency, you should dial 911. But in all other circumstances, here are some places and people you can call for assistance.

Dial 311

The City of Houston launched the 311 Houston Service Helpline in 2001. Those within city limits can dial the number for help with traffic fines and sewer concerns to pothole problems and neighborhood complaints. Trained agents are available to assist those who call with questions or concerns.

Contact your city councilmember

Sometimes, issues require government officials to get involved. That is when you get in touch with the city councilmember from your district.
