Further details revealed that a grey Ford Focus was traveling westbound when the vehicle struck a guardrail on the north side of the street. The Ford then veered to the left, drover over the center median and into the eastbound lanes of Clay Road.

Police said the Ford struck a silver Chevrolet Sonic head-on.

The 27-year-old driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene by the Houston Fire Department paramedics. The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His identity has not been released.

Clay Road was temporarily closed in both directions as crews investigate and clear the scene.
