HOUSTON – Four siblings -- ages 10, 14, 15 and 16 -- were shot inside their Houston home Thursday night by masked gunmen who police say may be teenagers.
The guys with masks came up to the home at Collier Street and Carrolton Street right near Brays Bayou in SE Houston a little after 9 p.m.
Some family members were outside when they came to the door and started calling for people to come out of the house, according to Assistant Police Chief Megan Howard.
“Family members were outside, saw them approaching, saw them with the guns, attempted to go inside ... eventually the door was opened and we believe two of the males, two of the suspects, then discharged pistols into the house,” Howard said.
They shot the 10-year-old and three teenagers. A relative tells KPRC 2′s T.J. Parker the two brothers and two sisters are all siblings. They say the 15-year-old boy was shot in the stomach and he was in the ICU Friday morning with a breathing tube.
Police said the three other children were hit either in the arms or legs.
Howard said it’s a multi-generational household and other family members were also in the home during the shooting.
The relative who talked with KPRC 2′s T.J. Parker said the family knows who did this. They said it’s the same teens who shot up the family’s truck a few weeks ago.
Another next door neighbor reports several weeks ago there was gunfire and a bullet struck his house but nobody was injured.
Police confirmed the shooting appears to be targeted and although the suspects fled on food, they said they don’t believe there’s a threat to the public. They also said they’re working on good information they hope will lead them quickly to the identities and arrests.
Police are also checking with neighbors for any surveillance video.
