Harris County Pct. 6 Deputy Constable terminated after deadly wrong-way crash in Houston’s Second Ward

HOUSTON – The Harris County Pct. 6 Constable’s Office said a deputy constable who was involved in a deadly crash Saturday in the Second Ward while he was off-duty, has had his employment terminated.

The crash was reported around 1:30 p.m. Saturday at 2727 Canal St.

Based on preliminary details by the Houston Police Department, the off-duty deputy constable, identified by the constable’s office as Rigo Vivar, was driving a White Chevy (his personal vehicle) southbound in the northbound lanes and hit another vehicle turning right onto Live Oak St.

The driver in the other vehicle died at the scene, while Vivar was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

As of Sunday morning, HPD confirmed no charges have been filed but the crash is still under investigation.

Sunday afternoon, the constable’s office confirmed Vivar was the deputy constable involved in the crash and said his employment has been terminated.
