The college football season officially kicks off this week and so does the annual Labor Day Classic.
This year marks the 39th meetup between two local HBCU’s in Texas Southern and Prairie View.
Prairie View has had the upper hand in recent history, but with new head coach Cris Dishman at the helm at Texas Southern the Tigers hope to turn the tide.
“Bubba joked with me saying, I’ve been kicking y’alls butt for the last 9 years, when you win one, then we can call it a rivalry,” Dishman said
“These two teams when they get together its not about talent, it’s about pride and who’s going to be able to play four quarters of football,” McDowell said.
The Labor Day classic will get underway on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Panther Stadium.
