Missouri City mother says janitor kissed daughter on face at Hunters Glen Elementary School, and still works there

HOUSTON – Kissed by a stranger. It’s what one Missouri City woman says happened to her daughter at Hunters Glen Elementary School.

She said it’s bad enough a janitor kissed her daughter, but the way the school initially responded was like adding insult to injury.

“It made me cry,” said the woman who asked not to be identified.

She told KPRC 2 her daughter just started pre-k, but the 4-year-old is already traumatized by what a member of the cleaning staff did to her this past Wednesday.

“My daughter jumped in the car. She was still upset about it. She said ‘mama, a lady walked up to me in the cafeteria and just kissed me.’ I said ‘what?’ She said, ‘I don’t want that lady kissing me, that stranger,’” she said.

The woman said her older son, who also attends Hunters Glen, noticed the janitor’s behavior before.

“As she’s cleaning up, she looks at all the kids and she goes to certain ones, and the ones she picks out she’ll walk up to them and talk to them. But my particular child, she walked up to her and said, ‘you’re so pretty’ and kissed her in her forehead,” she said.

She said what made matters worse, was the assistant principal’s response.

“She tried to tell me a 4-year-old child should look for her to tell her what’s going on,” she said.

Two days after the incident, she said the principal finally called her offering a solution.

“That particular person in the cafeteria, ‘she’s still going to be working there but she just doesn’t have to be in the cafeteria with your child,’” she said.

The concerned mother said that’s not good enough.

“No, it’s not. Because what if she sees her going to the bathroom? What if she sees her passing through the hallway?” She said.

The mother wants the janitor fired.
