HOUSTON – A mother is demanding answers from Stafford Municipal School District (MSD) after she says her 2nd grader was kicked in the chest by another student at school
Alejandra Arechiga spoke with KPRC 2 and said school officials didn’t do enough to prevent this from happening and said she felt like her concerns were brushed off by administrators

Arechiga says even though her 7-year-old wasn’t seriously hurt he doesn’t want to go back to school. Arechiga also says she’s upset she wasn’t immediately notified her son was kicked in the chest and still has a lot of questions.
“I feel like there’s so many steps that they could have went in and, you know, stopped it from escalating to the point where my son was kicked,” Arechiga said.
Last Thursday. Arechiga says her son, Mauricio, told her his classmate was throwing objects at the students earlier in the day and being disruptive.
While at lunch, she says Mauricio was kicked in the chest by that student.
Alejandra says her son was taken to the school nurse, where he says he asked to speak with his mom. However, Arechiga says no one from the school contacted her, and she didn’t learn about the incident until 8 p.m. through the school messaging system.

Arechiga said she spoke with the principal and school nurse on Friday but she still has questions. Arechiga says her son won’t be in the same classroom as that student but she doesn’t feel like there’s a plan going forward and remains worried about his safety.
The school released a statement acknowledging someone from the district met with the mother on Friday. They added that school safety is a top priority—adding the campus and district are still investigating the incident and a plan is in place.
