‘It’s just tragic’: NW Harris County woman missing for several days found shot to death

Residents in a northwest Harris County neighborhood are shocked after a woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds Friday.

Investigators said her boyfriend made the discovery after the woman hadn’t been seen for several days.

Most people in the Hearthstone community are retired and everyone knows each other. When they heard about a homicide they couldn’t believe it.

“I don’t think we’ve had any homicides in this neighborhood. But it’s a small community. Everybody knows everybody. Everybody looks after everybody. It’s just tragic,” said Matt Peveto, a nearby resident.

Law enforcement spent several hours collecting evidence and taking pictures of the home on Beechmoor Drive, where the woman was found.

Investigators said she was in her 40′s and had been shot to death. She has not been identified and her family has asked for privacy.

Sgt. Miller said the victim’s boyfriend made the discovery.

“She apparently hadn’t been seen in a couple of days. The boyfriend had come over to check on her. When he got here, he found the door had been kicked in, forced in, and he then found her inside the home.”

A resident said the area has always been peaceful.

“This is mostly a retired neighborhood here. There’s a country club a couple blocks from this street, and it’s just a very quiet neighborhood. You don’t really hear about things happening like that here. So, you know, very tragic and definitely concerning for residents as well as myself and my family here.”

Investigators are canvassing the area for any video and speaking to residents.
