Loved ones are remembering the life of Ricardo ‘Ricky’ Resendez Jr., who police say was killed by an off-duty Harris County Precinct 6 deputy in a crash last weekend.

Resendez was driving in Second Ward last Saturday when police say that off-duty deputy drove the wrong way down the same street, fatally striking Resendez.

Tonight, loved ones gathered to remember Ricky, and demand justice for him.

“At night and early in the morning when I wake up is when I really feel his absence the most. I keep going because I know he’d never want me to stop,” said Brenda Resendez, Ricky’s sister.

The former deputy accused of causing that deadly crash has been identified as Rigo Vigar. Precinct 6 reported that he has been fired, but there is still no word on any potential charges he may face.

“Charges should be filed. We want justice for him, and he deserves it,” Brenda said.
