Houstonians know that summer heat is no joke. No one knows that better than delivery drivers that are in and out of trucks, up and down stairs and carrying your heavy packages to the doorstep.
That’s why the Mueller family wants to give postal and delivery workers a little “Thank you” for their hard work this summer.
They set up a little mini fridge outside of their Meyerland home stocked full of Gatorade with a little sign that reads: “Delivery and Postal: Thank you for all you do. Please help yourself to a cold drink!”
“We put it out there about a year ago,” Gage Mueller told KPRC 2′s Gage Goulding. “It was just sitting in my garage, so I told my wife, we are going to put this on the porch with a sign and see what happens.”
This is the same house where an Amazon delivery driver was caught on camera singing while dropping off packages.
On Sunday, an Amazon delivery driver in the middle of the afternoon around 4 p.m. and was more than happy to see an ice-cold drink.
Watch his reaction here:
Oh, thank you Gage,” the delivery driver said in a recording caught by the doorbell camera. “That’s going to be delightful. I know it’s going to be great.”
After dropping off the package, the delivery man reached down in the fridge to find a full selection of water and Gatorade.
“You got the Gatorade. Gage, with the chill, man!”
The driver was as happy as could be as he walked back to the delivery van.
“We will get drivers that know we have it out there and if we are outside, they’ll come up and say, ‘I don’t have a package, but can I grab a Gatorade?’ The answer is ALWAYS yes,” Mueller said.
In a world where there’s a lot of bad news, this is a bright spot on Texans helping Texans.
