HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Law enforcement from across the area gathered to pay tribute to Harris County Pct. 4 Corporal Maher Husseini as his body was transported to a funeral home.

Husseini was gunned down Tuesday while sitting at a stoplight at the intersection of Richmond Ave. and Fondren Rd. as he was driving to work.

A gunman got out of his car, walked up to Husseini’s SUV, and fired multiple shots into the vehicle.

Husseini was taken to Ben Taub Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His alleged killer, Athir Murady, is currently at the Galveston County Jail. He is currently charged with evading arrest. Galveston County Criminal District Attorney Jack Roady said their office is requesting he be denied bail.

On Wednesday, dozens of law enforcement officers and the Husseini family were present as Husseini’s body was taken from the medical examiner’s office to the funeral home.
