HOUSTON – If you hear loud screeching and smell tires burning near Discovery Green, don’t be alarmed. If anything, you’re encouraged to check it out!
THINGS TO DO: Must-see events this September in Houston, from festivals to live music
Red Bull is holding a FREE, family-friendly Formula One racing exhibition in downtown Houston this Saturday, September 7. The event will be for one day only, but it’ll be one to remember because a DJ battle will also take place during a special intermission as part of Red Bull’s Turn It Up showcase.
Houston rap legend Paul Wall will host the performance where the Space City’s own DJ Mr. Rogers will take on Los Angeles-based musical great DJ Hed. Hip-hop fans in Houston should already be familiar with Rogers, who serves as a popular media personality. While Hed is a certified legend in the West Coast rap scene, having recently handled Kendrick Lamar’s iconic Juneteenth concert.

It will overall be an adrenaline-fueled experience with legendary F1 driver David Coulthard taking on current Red Bull junior driver Arvid Lndlad. Despite the latter being an up-and-coming driver, he’s an F3 multi-race winner but will be going against the British racing legend who has competed in F1s for 15 seasons and even gave Red Bull Racing its first podium finish.
“The best part about any Red Bull Showrun is being able to bring Formula One to some fans that have already seen it, but more importantly to some who have never seen Formula One before,” Coulthard said in a press statement.
In addition to music and racing, there will also be world-class performances with off-road racing champions captivating audiences by reaching maximum speeds, donuts, burnouts, wheels and more high-octane action including the unveiling of a McLaren P1 Hypercar by “Mad” Mike Whiddett.
