What’s the deal with this pill taped on a door in Lazybrook?

HOUSTON – A man came home to his apartment in the Lazybrook neighborhood of Houston to find a small pill taped to his front door.

That’s it. Just a small white and blue pill with an odd smiley face on the front.

“We were just walking up the stairs and we just saw it there,” Sam Ransom told KPRC 2′s Gage Goulding. “There were kids walking out of our next door neighbor’s place and we’re just like, ‘That’s weird.’”

Alarmed, Sam posted on social media and called the Houston Police non-emergency number to find out if they were in danger.

“I was like let me just see what’s inside this pill,” Sam said.

What’s in the pill?

Is this person in harm’s way?

Is there a new “TikTok trend?”

Before we get there, it’s important to know that the Houston Police Department says you shouldn’t do that.

According to an HPD spokesperson, you should always safely throw out any unknown or foreign objects, like a pill.

“I opened up the pill, and there was a note inside and said, ‘Jesus loves you,’” Ransom said.

A note scribbled on a tiny piece of paper that says: ‘Jesus loves you.’

That’s not drugs or dangerous.

“Very weird way to let somebody know. You know, Jesus loves you,” Ransom said.

Gage Goulding: It had to be relieving that there were no drugs in there?”

Sam Ransom: “Yeah, absolutely. But still, it’s just super weird.”

It turns out that these little pills are sold online. Amazon has them by the hundreds with little papers inside to write notes.

“That’s a weird way to send somebody a message, for sure,” Ransom said.

Especially if you don’t know that person.

While Sam’s feeling all the love from Jesus, he and HPD both warn people against this, no matter the message.

“Don’t go putting random pills on people’s doors and causes panic.”
